Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS) has a contractor opportunity available to provide case reportability and abstraction services for pathology and claims data. It’s a great opportunity for some quiet, satisfyingly challenging work performed from the comfort of your own home on your own schedule!
Contract Details
- 60 hours/month or 75 hours/month or 80 hours/month available
- Work from home
- Work the hours at any time (24/7); it’s on your schedule
- No travel
- Annual contract renewal possible
Scope of Work
- Investigate, research, and analyze claims, pathology and other non-hospital data, determine reportability and data quality for use in the registry
- Assign treatment and other data to existing cancer registry abstracts
- Abstract cases that are not in the cancer registry
Required Education/Credentials:
- NCRA certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
- Ability to communicate and write in English
Experience:
- Two+ years of experience as an ODS at a Central Cancer Registry
- Experience abstracting from pathology records and/or record consolidation a plus
Skills and Abilities:
- Current competency with all national standards for Central Cancer Registries, especially ICD-O-3 and the Solid Tumor Rules
- Ability to work independently and make decisions on your own
- Superior communication abilities, especially in writing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
