Death Clearance Manual

Approved by the NAACCR Board in June 2009, this manual is the comprehensive compilation of death clearance process instruction intended to provide all necessary information under one cover to successfully and consistently conduct death clearance. The manual contains minimum requirements for conducting death clearance, not best practices, and takes precedence over any previously published best practice documents or other resources provided on death clearance. The minimum requirements are the least common denominator for registries conducting death clearance. Registries may do more, but not less.

Included in the manual is a change that allows a more appropriate date other than the date of death to be used for the date of diagnosis for a DCO. The associated EDITS changes have been addressed by Susan Capron and the EDITS Workgroup.
