Job Description:
Publ Hlth & Prevent Spcl II Performs moderately complex technical and analytical duties in the collection and reporting of cancer registry data in the Cancer Epidemiology and Surveillance Branch (CESB). Provides technical assistance and instruction to medical providers and others in cancer reporting methods. Performs International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-O) coding of cancer data. Participates in casefinding, re-abstracting and other quality control review and analysis to ensure reliability, completeness, consistency and comparability of cancer data. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Southwest Texas Registry Operations Group Manager and direction from the Team Lead with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Certified Tumor Registrar or Certified Tumor Registrar eligible. RHIA or RHIT or hold a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a health related field from a U.S. college or university or foreign degree determined to be equivalent by an acceptable education evaluator. Experience or education in case ascertainment or coding medical data.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) or certified tumor registrar eligible.
